Bio
Katia Fuscaldo-Zoffoli is a professional singer, songwriter and vocal teacher based in Sydney, Australia. She is known for her characteristically soulful and dynamic vocal abilities within the sphere of Contemporary, and is inspired by many of the greats she grew up listening to -- Etta James, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Whitney Houston to name just a few.
She cites the early encouragement and support from her parents as pivotal to her success as a musician. By the age of 7, Katia had already been enrolled in private singing lessons, and her high school education was furthered at the revered McDonald College Of Performing Arts in Sydney, Australia. Today, she holds a Degree In Contemporary Music (BMus), awarded by the Australian Institute Of Music.
Formal education and training is but just one piece of the puzzle within any professional musician’s success. To put it into practice is another thing entirely, and for Katia, her accomplishments speak for themselves. In fact, by the age of 16, she had already composed and recorded her first EP, which notably went on to receive a publishing contract with Sony BMG.
With Katia’s demonstrated exceptional talent and ability to work in a professional capacity, doors of opportunity within the industry began to quickly present themselves. She has since collaborated with countless leading Australian songwriters and musicians, including Jessica Mauboy, James Kempster (writer/producer), Phil Buckle (Southern Sons), Cameron McGlinchey (The Rogue Traders), and Blair Joscelyne (writer/producer).
Katia’s sought-after vocal talents have also taken her abroad, where she was offered a residency singing in 5-star hotels in China and Malaysia.
Katia has taken the stage at many of the top venues and festivals across Australia, including Sydney Allphones Arena, The Basement, Angel Place and even the Sydney Opera House. She has also appeared on Sunrise and The Morning Show. She was also lucky enough to have her vocals appear on the feature film ‘Girl Clock’.
Righteous Voodoo, a collaborative band project between her and 6 other talented Australian musicians, rose to fame in 2015 with their debut single ‘Bygone’. They went on to headline a number of high-profile Australian festivals and receive mentions on significant media outlets including Triple J.
Her music has also appeared on Mighty Car Mods, a highly successful, independent automotive series on Youtube. Blair, the channel’s multi award-winning composer discovered her and has since featured her vocals throughout the series.
Today, Katia is a vocal teacher who operates out of McDonald College and other music schools across Inner West Sydney. With an esteemed resume, formidable vocal prowess, and a friendly and approachable personality, Katia has built up a reputation as a highly sought after vocal teacher in Sydney. Precise but never regimented in her teaching style, she instead opts for a process that is tailor-made for each student. Her motto is “encouragement over forcefulness, positivity over criticism, and patience over deadlines”. This is a tried and tested style that she finds works best in developing and nurturing her students into the musical prodigies of tomorrow.
With a career as busy and illustrious as Katia’s, and the recent birth of two daughters, you might wonder where she finds the hours in the day to teach. For Katia, singing is everything, and if there’s one thing she has truly mastered -- it’s how to successfully incorporate the joy of music into all parts of her life.
